In 1998, I graduated from UTS with a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Management and began my career in tourism. However, I later felt a calling to work with the elderly, which led me to join Mark Moran at Little Bay as a Diversional Therapist and Manager. This role, where I was responsible for the well-being of 150 residents, truly became my passion.
With over 15 years of experience working with seniors and individuals with dementia, my greatest motivation comes from the positive feedback I receive from residents. One resident once told me, "You brought us happiness," and shared how much they looked forward to the Thursday morning art class I initiated. After a year of this class, we proudly displayed the residents' artwork on the walls.
Driven by my love for this work, I have now launched Diversional Therapy with Meryl and Co. Through this initiative, I aim to teach others in aged care facilities how to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their residents. I also offer programs tailored for retirement living and hospital settings. I’m also qualified with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which helps me lead and guide teams towards better outcomes.
